We had a similar experience. In our case, we were contacted by someone who represented themselves as being with RCI. We were asked to attend an informational dinner meeting, conducted by BJ Cook. He was a very smooth talker and showed us how we could greatly increase our timeshare points, through an RCI accredited program, by buying into a timeshare with Sunset Harbor. When we first got the call for the invitation, we immediately called RCI. They told us that they were aware of this program and of the affiliation. As it turned out, we have no luck trying to get these "greatly increase of points", nor have we been able to contact Mr. Cook, or PRL, who he really seems to have represented. We also filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General, but received no help, let alone an answer, about this obvious scam. We have made numerous attempts to contact someone at Sunset Harbor. On one occasion, we finally did, only to be told that their association with RCI had terminated. RCI, in turn, told us that they would not honor the yearly 27,000 points that were part of the transaction, since they were no longer associated with Sunset Harbor. There was nothing they could do about the situation, and that all our dealings would have to be negotiated with Sunset harbor. Needless to say, Sunset Harbor has been anything but cooperative. The only option they could offer was for us to opt out, by paying them $1,000, after which we would loose our original buy-in fee of $9,000.

Thought we were scammed and did research and the husband and I were scared to death! Took them a while to process our card but they did back in January. But so far, we got our check as they stated. Maybe everything will work out for you guys too!

My parents were also scammed by his company in 2011. Will someone post the name and contact info of an attorney in Texas working on this? I just search he TX Attorney General Web Site and did not find an indication of any action on their part.

Can you please let me know how to get the process started? I bought in 2011 and found out "too late" that it was a scam...now Sunset Harbor wants their maintenance fees and no one will answer the phone....did get the number to a man named Ted Turner, he waived the fees for this year, but I want out of the timeshare bc it is a crock of horse dukey! Comments please!!
