Timeshare Scams and Fraud

Recently I have been contacted by two people representing themselves as having a buyer for my timeshare at a good price. After looking into them, I was convinced they were scammers. They had all my information including my membership number, phone number, number of points, etc. I concluded that someone inside Fiesta Americana Vacation Club gave or sold that information to at least two scammers. I was contacted by Delores Bowyer, who claimed to be deaf. After we agreed on price, she had to go to hospital for procedure to restore part of hearing but our arrangement would still go through since she was sending me a certified check, out of which I would pay Escrow money and forward rest to her broker, Samuel Kaplan, for him to pay rest of fees. Buyers were found and the process was taking close to 90 days. I had to reach out to them for any status. Finally, closing date was set for 12/10. Problem arose on the buyer's end with coming up with last minute funds to pay for real estate stamps. We were asked to pay half and we would be reim... Read More

About 2 Years ago we purchased a membership with OVC. Recently we have been receiving many phone calls from people offering to buy our membership or to rent our membership out for us. They have all of our information including what unit we purchased, our contact information and what it cost us, they have informed us that our information was given to them from Occidental itself. We were considering renting so we called Occidental to confirm that these companies were associated with them and they informed us that they were not. That people were making arrangement and signing agreements and then not seeing the money for the units. We asked the next one who called how they received our contact information (our private cell numbers and were asking for us by name) and again were told O... Read More
