I was contacted by John Pearson to find out if I was interested in selling my timeshare. When I indicated that I was, he asked how much I would be like for the timeshare. The buyer was giving me a firm offer for twice as much. I was asked to sign a form confirming that I was willing to accept this offer. I was then asked whether I wanted the money by cheque or direct deposit. I had time to do some investigation of my own and found that Lakeview Property Management was not listed in the Yellow pages or the business directory for Chicago. When I typed in the exact website address that they provide, the website appears but if I did a Google search, the website wasn't found. I also found it interesting that Property was mis-spelled on some of the official correspondence. (spelled as Proprety) As soon as I was told that I would have to pay the taxes in Mexico for the sale of the property, I asked for proof that Lakeview Property Management actually existed. They provided a copy of their business license in Mexico but could not provide one for Illinois. They said they didn't need one for Illinois because they didn't conduct business in the US. Not exactly true! If they employ staff in Illinois, they need to be registered with the Illinois taxation department. Since I confronted them with what I knew, I haven't heard from them. Thank you to the person who documented their experience on Dec. 18.
