Timeshare Scams and Fraud
R&R Ventures/PRL (Point Rental Liquidators/Sunset Harbor Resort SCAMMED - R&R Ventures/PRL/Sunset Harbor Resort, Willis,TX
Company Name: R&R Ventures/PRL/Sunset Harbor Resort, Willis,TX
We also were scammed by R&R Ventures, PRL and Sunset Harbor Resort. After receiving a call from a person who said they were a representative of RCI telling us about a meeting regarding new information regarding turning your weeks into points. We attended a sales presentation at the Red Lobster Restaurant, North Little Rock, AR on February 20, 2012. According to the sales people at this meeting, if we purchased a timeshare week at Sunset Harbor Resort, Willis TX which would give us 24,000 points we could then deposit these points along with our week we own with Wyndham Fairfield Bay (which we were told was worth 71,500 points) with PRL and receive payment at $0.0875 per point. In addition, by purchasing the Sunset Harbor timeshare and paying membership to PRL ($498) we would earn an additional 50,000 points. We were told that once paperwork was filed that we would be receiving a check in the mail from PRL that would pay for our timeshare purchase at Sunset Harbor and future years would pay our maintenance fees. Plus, we would also have membership in VSI travel and be able to use our points for trips at a much reduced rate. We heard nothing from PRL or R&R or Sunset Harbor and when we called the sales person's phone number we were told they had such a response it was taking longer than anticipated to process all the requests. In July we received a letter from PRL explaining that sales were so good that it would take until November before we would see any kind of payment. At the end of November we called PRL and the person answering the phone informed us that the company had filed for bankruptcy. She gave us the number for Sunset Harbor Resort. It was at this point that we new we had been scammed!!! We lost over $9,000 and gained another timeshare week with additional maintenance fees that we didn't want.
