Contacted me after seeing my timeshare for sale on Craigslist. Sounded professionaL - claimed hearing disabilities. Negotiated properly and professionally - then the scam.
Will send $2900 check - I keep $500 and send $2400 to Richard Lane at [email protected]. Contact her by text 618-505-4969 - [email protected]. Richard's number 504-517-2064. She going to audiology center - out 10 weeks. Richard unreachable -currently out of country. But this will help speed up closing! Oh yeah!

These scammers are still lurking. In my case the woman's name is Michelle Travis, her email is mtravis1443@gmail.com, and her phone number is 708-321-1789. The realtor's name is Richard Schmitt, email is richard.sm@realty-rep.com, local phone number is 504-517-2064 and the phone number while on vacation is 905312633938 (A Turkish Cell #). I did get the cashier's check for 2900$ and verified it with the issuing bank (TCF Bank) and was told they have no record of it

Well, They must be on a roll because I got the same thing. Things were moving smoothly until they found out that I would not forward money to anybody without a check (cashiers or any other) clearing my account. They did not count on the fact that I worked in banking for a long time and the check did not look right to me and I am licensed in Real Estate. They have broken so many laws. Not that I think it will help but I have reported them to the State Department of Finance in my State as well as the state they said they lived in, our local Police Department. The Police are checking into the Title company and if they are on the up and up they will also pursue them. Seems there are a lot of law enforcement agency's cracking down on these scams.

Same Scenario with me (same phone, email, story). Well written, usually you can tell a scam because it is so poorly written. I said we need a contract and the title company could hold the earnest money. Then I received a very rude response, This isn't my first purchase, do you think I don't know what I am doing. After that I played along. Then received the same email. Hearing impaired, realtor out of town, sending you a cashiers check, send me the balance. Yea... this isn't my first Rodeo either.
