I also was first contacted by Jodie Clark on May 17, 2017 at 4:28am regarding the purchase of my timeshare, which hadn't even been advertised for sale, so needless to say I was considerably wary of the inquiry. The wording in the emails was the exact same, word for word, as the others have stated. Jodie Clark is the hearing impaired buyer and Samuel Bonin is her broker who, for some unknown reason, she has no idea where he is and can't seem to get in touch with him. I've never heard of a broker who couldn't be reached in some manner or who didn't let his client know he would be out of town. When I questioned Jodie about her not knowing where Sam is located she ignored the question all together.
Jodie sent me a cashier's check for $2900.00, of which $2400 was to be forwarded to Sam Bonin who would contact me to let me know where to send it. What I really couldn't understand was why didn't she send me 2 separate checks, one for Sam and one for me, I would have been happy to forward his to him. Of course I had no intention of depositing this cashier's check without checking with my bank manager to make sure the check was good. I went online to check for a scam before doing any of the above and I'm very glad I did. My gut was telling me this was a scam and the information I got online verified it, thank God for the internet.
One other thing that made this deal seem unreal was the fact that she is paying her broker up front??? Brokers get paid at settlement not up front and $2400 would have been an extremely high fee for a $14000.00 deal.
I did receive a very long email from Sam Bonin this morning, June 6, 2017, outlining what would be going on with him and the title company, First American Title Co., and where to send his fee. Sure enough check is to be sent to Turkey. He says he has been vacationing in Turkey (very long vacation I'd say) and hasn't had access to his emails or phone and that's why Jodie wasn't able to contact him. He did provide a phone number he could be reached at (strange that now he has phone service) which is the same number provided by others in their complaints, 905312633932.
So please everyone if you receive an email from Jodie Clark or any hearing impaired person with the address of: 739 E. 81st St., Chicago, Il 60619, ignore it, it is a SCAM.
