Perks, Promos and Incentives for Timeshare Purchases

In many cases, even people who have never considered buying a timeshare know that the incentives for attending a timeshare sales pitch can be extremely tempting. You should certainly use caution before agreeing to any such incentives deal, of course. However, if you are already in the market for a timeshare, these incentives can make the shopping process much more pleasant.

One of the biggest reasons why many people decide to attend a timeshare presentation is the rewards and promotions that are often offered as an incentive for doing so. Depending on the situation, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Ideally, you should look at this as a chance to save money on a property you are actually interested in, while also taking home an incentive as an extra bonus.

The allure of saving money is often all families need when deciding to take a few hours out of their vacation to listen to a presentation on buying into a timeshare. However, individuals can also use these sales presentations as ways to receive great perks and bonuses in exchange for their time.

Sometimes these incentives can be offered in advance of a trip. Certain companies offer families a discounted vacation at their resort if they agree to attend a sales presentation during their visit. Taking advantage of heavily discounted rates at top resorts is a very useful and practical incentive that a family can enjoy in exchange for discussing the possibility of purchasing a timeshare unit at that resort.

The majority of the promotions offered are given as incentives to get individuals to take a tour of a facility that they might not have already planned on checking out. Salespeople will offer free tickets to top local attractions or even cash from their sales booths located in major tourist areas. Once a salesperson signs a family up to take a tour, they will be given a time to visit the resort where they will receive their reward. After taking a tour, the family must listen to a sales pitch about purchasing a timeshare at that property before they receive the incentive.

Other commonly offered perks include discounts on future vacations. Properties will sometimes offer families a free stay at their resort in the future to help determine if the resort is a good fit for their family. These can also be offered for the remainder of a family’s current trip in some cases.

It sounds like a relatively simple process to receive these incentives — and it can be in some situations. However, it is also important to be cautious before agreeing to anything, especially since many people fall victim to scammers that try to impersonate legitimate timeshare companies.

First, when it comes to receiving free or discounted vacations in exchange for listening to a sales pitch, make sure to read the fine print. Sometimes additional resort fees or restrictions that preclude you from taking trips at certain times of the year or at certain locations can make the offer not worth your time.

Also, if you are offered cash, tickets or similar incentives in exchange for attending a presentation, you need to find out exactly what you are expected to do before you receive that incentive. Make sure you understand exactly how much time will be required when you attend the presentation, exactly what you will receive in return and whether you will be under any further obligations if you decide not to purchase.

While these promotions can be enticing, you should use caution when deciding whether to pursue them. If you are not seriously considering becoming a buyer or if you have difficulty turning down a sales pitch that is not right for you, it might be better to avoid them. If you are a savvy shopper who is seriously perusing the market, however, they might be a cherry on top of a sales meeting you need to attend anyway.
