DAYTONA BEACH — A woman was arrested after investigators said she sold timeshare properties that she didn’t own.

Sandra King, 57, was arrested in November and charged with operating the timeshare scheme. Investigators are still looking for other people who may have been victimized by King, and are asking people to contact detectives if they have any information to provide on this case.

Last summer, the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety began receiving complaints from vacationers arriving at their timeshare condominium, only to find out the unit they believed they had purchased was a privately owned residence.

The salesperson – King – had by then left town with their money.

According to investigators, King sold timeshare rights to a unit at the Peninsula Condominium, located at 2545 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach Shores from late 2010 through the summer of 2011.

But the unit was privately owned by an out-of-state resident, and had been rented by an associate of King’s. According to the arrest report, she showed the unit to prospective buyers and told them that timeshare rights to the condo were available for purchase from her two timeshare companies, Ambassador Club and VIP Vacations.

But when vacationers arrived to use what they believed was their condominium for a summer vacation, the condo manager contacted the owner.

The owner responded that he knew nothing about King’s supposed sale of the unit.

Investigators believe they have already found eight victims, but think there are likely many more out there who haven’t come forward yet. Each vacationer paid King thousands of dollars for use of the condo, investigators noted.

King found her victims at numerous timeshare properties throughout the state.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement joined the investigation and tracked King to Bradford County, north of Gainesville, where she was arrested in November on warrants for grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. She has since posted bond.

Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of King, Ambassador Club, or VIP Vacations should call Detective Brian Brueggemann at 386-763-5347 or Special Agent Josh Mead at 386-274-3829.
