Timeshare Scams and Fraud

I was on vacation with my sister in law to the Occidental Vacation resort in Punta Cana about 2 years ago when we were approached to listen to there 90 min marketing program. Fine, it was early in the am and we'd have the rest of the day to enjoy our vacation. Multiple times we tried to leave but they kept us there and promising us more incentives to buy the timeshare. They promised us discounts on airfare and showed us on the website how it worked, gave us the VIP package to enjoy, and kept coming over with quite a few boozey drinks. We kept saying no and they kept lowering the cost of the timeshare and increasing the amount of weeks we were able to use. Since I do travel a lot and vacation quite a bit it was actually sounding pretty decent. I asked for more examples of wh... Read More

Horrible experience at Villa del Palmar

If you are thinking of acquiring a time share with Villa del Palmar, you will lose your time as well as lose a lot of money, preferably from your own experience, do not buy any timeshare, are totally fraudulent, do not even think about going to some timeshare presentation , The best thing is to avoid this type of places, they are unscrupulous people of the worst.
My wife and I bought a time share in 2015 with Villa del Palmar, we definitely did not do it because we wanted to, we did because they did not harass until we signed the contract, the next day we talked to them to tell them that we wanted to cancel our timeshare and They said that everything was good and that our timeshare was canceled and that our money would appear refunded, th... Less a complaint and more about education. When any sales person informs you of the market price of ownership, 'per point,' recognize that the very same points are readily available in the open market for a fraction of the cost.

Marriott Vacation Club makes a point up front that they reserve the right of first refusal to buy back their points because the market value continues to increase. If you're buying direct from them the statement would be true.

My purchase of 2,500 points was bought for roughly $10 per point. If buying direct from them today they will sell them for $13+.

However, on the resale market you'll have a tough time getting $4 per point so while this is a great way to own a timeshare with properties around the world, don't buy direct.

I Brought a timeshare last year and told them i may be being lay off. what happens if i do they said it is ok you have 90 days to cancel .

well i did get layed off and i have been trying since december to get them to reply to my email i have go the auto reply back to say they have my emails . i have sent 25 emails saying i do not have a job and cannot pay can you please help me but yet nothing .

i do not think that is far i have stress trying to find a job and please them keep asking for money i do not have what can i do

My wife and I were pitched, the sale of our existing timeshare was a condition of purchase at Royal Holiday . The salesperson misled us about the guarantee to sell our existing timeshare for $62,750. We didn't get the guarantee until we were leaving after signing the contract. The guarantee was for no more than to list the property for sale for $62,750.

We talked about the RCI bonus weeks we were getting. We talked about the cost of $179 or $189 a week. Nothing was said about having to pay maintenance fees first .We were told we were getting a $90,000 annuity. We then found later it was an "anticipated" annuity.

When you look back to see all the slimy sales tactics playing on our emotions and when good questions were asked about risk and financial commitment or guaran... Read More
